Life Lessons from a Jeweler

So, today I went down to Tiffany and Co. to return a key shaped necklace my parents purchased for me as a graduation gift. Now, I appreciated it, really, but I didn't want something I would just stare at in rememberance...I wanted something I would actually wear. Upon entering the store I was met by a security guard who looked over the gift I wished to exchange. He had this to say:

"It's been given in the right sentiment. You've been given the right stage for your key. Now, it's just the way you turn it. A love interest can only catapult you so far...then it's what you do after that."

WHAT?! Don't even ask me where that last part sprang up from. Then, I had a nice conversation with the actual salesman who returned the necklace. It went like this:

MAN: Why do you want to return it so soon? I'm sure the person who got it for you wants you to have it.
ME: It's my dad.
MAN: Your dad? Even WORSE!
ME: Nah, he gets it. It's too big and too shiny.
MAN: Too big and too shiny? Well, I've never heard that before...especially too big (surprisingly, not that awkward).
ME: (silly giggles)
MAN: You're making it very easy for someone out there.

TUG AT MY HEART STRINGS, WHY DON'T YA, TIFFANY AND CO!!!? So, I had a couple of pleasant run-ins in exchange for my necklace. Thanks Mom and Dad.

American Idiot

I saw American Idiot at the St. James theatre this week. Despite a pretty poor and lifeless ending, and a wierd scene with some sort of flying sequence, I EFFING LOVED IT. John Gallagher was done an injustice not being nominated for a Tony. Give me a freaking break.
